Georg Ludvik

Mr. Ludvik born in Austria studied violoncello (with Gerd Exner / Conservatory of Graz, Austria and later on with Janis Chronopoulos / University for Music and Drama in Graz, master courses with Pierre Fournier and Paul Tortelier) and composition (with Karl Haydmaier) where he received his diploma with high distinction. He also studied electric bass at the Studio for Advanced Music & Media Technology (with Adelhard Roidinger / Anton Bruckner Universitiy for Music, Drama and Dance, Linz).

Besides his interests in composition and arrangement, he started his career as cellist with the Graz Philharmonic Orchestra at the opera house, was a member of Mozart Ensemble Graz, of the Austrian Kammerphilharmonie, of the Graz Symphonic Orchestra and in this position he worked ten years with some of the most highlighted conductors and artists in Europeans music business like Karl Böhm, Lovro von Matacic, Yehudi Menuhin, Sándor Végh, Leopold Hager, Fabio Luisi, Niksa Baresa and James Blair.

In 1995, the very renowned music festival STYRIARTE in Austria, under the artist leadership of Nikolaus Harnoncourt, appointed Mr. Ludvik as conductor for the classical youth concert series.

Not only classical music, but different music styles like Jazz, Contemporary Music, Ethnic or World Music have been his further interests. In 1995, after winning his first price for arrangement at the International Astor Piazzolla Competition in Italy, Mr. Ludvik earned fast recognition not only as musician but as a composer and arranger as well with different ensembles and institutions. Successive Mr. Ludvik was involved as composer and musician with ensembles like Quintetto Accento (Tango nuevo), Austrian Art Ensemble (Classic meets Avantgarde / Jazz), Four Dimensions Project (Jazz & World Music) just to name a few.

He had many concerts as a soloist and musician for chamber music and orchestras in Austria and abroad (Spain, The Netherlands, Hungary, Germany, Italy, Slovenia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Croatia, Turkey, United Kingdom, Japan and Chile) and recorded many CDs, e.g. “La setima realidad”, “LISTen to a life in motion”, “reflexion”, “Live at Orpheum”, “Queen of hearts”, “Rendez Vous” etc.

1996 arranger of the musical collage "Der Lindberghflug" according to Bert Brecht and Kurt Weill for the Austrian broadcasting ORF.

His participation with Universum Movies and productions like "Plitvice, land of the falling lakes", "Sahara", "Nationalpark Hohe Tauern", etc. brought his works to a worldwide audience.
